Ghana is driving Africa’s health transformation through digital innovation – Health Minister.
Ghana is positioning itself as a continental leader in health transformation through digital innovation, upgraded hospitals, and improved access to care, according to Health Minister Kwabena Mintah Akandoh.
He made the remarks at the 2025 World Health Expo in Accra on Tuesday, December 9.
The minister highlighted major investments reshaping Ghana’s health sector, noting that the national modernization programme is enhancing diagnostic imaging, strengthening laboratory and pathology services, improving power supply, and integrating digital systems to support faster clinical decisions.
He explained that these upgrades are turning hospitals into modern centres of care and equipping health professionals to respond to current and emerging health challenges more effectively.
Akandoh added that ongoing digitisation is improving governance, boosting efficiency, and making the health system more responsive. It also enhances disease tracking, resource allocation, and accountability across the sector.
More than 350 African and global health leaders are attending the second World Health Expo (WHX) Leaders Africa Summit in Accra, which focuses on accelerating healthcare transformation and strengthening resilient health systems. The event runs from December 9–10 under the theme “Catalyzing Africa’s Health Revolution through Investment, Innovation, Impact, and Infrastructure.”
