CEA director reiterates government’s resolve to cut illiteracy in Ghana.
Daniel Kwesi Ashiamah, Acting Executive Director of the Complementary Education Agency (CEA), has reiterated the government’s determination to strengthen informal education and cut illiteracy nationwide.
Speaking at a three-day workshop for CEA Regional Directors at the University of Development Studies Guest House in Accra, he urged participants to work together toward improving educational outcomes across the country.
Ashiamah highlighted the vital role of informal education in promoting literacy and empowering communities, noting that the Mahama administration has already made key investments under the Reset Ghana programme to support the agency’s work.
He stressed that expanding adult literacy, vocational training, and community-based learning is essential for national progress, emphasising that informal education is just as important as the formal system.
As part of ongoing reforms, the government aims to widen access to quality education, especially for people who are often excluded from traditional schooling.
The workshop enabled directors to share ideas and plan strategies for strengthening the agency’s initiatives. Ashiamah called for unity and collaboration, insisting that success depends on collective effort and a shared vision for a more literate, empowered Ghana.
