In the outskirts of the city, many homes in townships rely on makeshift and hazardous electricity connections, illegally tapping into existing power lines to meet their energy needs.
The Cape Town region, located in the Western Cape province, is prone to storms and cold fronts, with a recent June cold front causing an estimated $50 million in damages to the local agricultural sector, as reported by authorities.
