FIFA WCQ: Aubameyang Shines but Gets Sent Off as Gabon Triumphs

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang delivered a sensational performance, scoring all four goals in Gabon’s thrilling victory that kept their World Cup qualification dreams alive. However, his night ended on a sour note after receiving a red card, ruling him out of their crucial final group match.

The win keeps the Panthers just one point behind group leaders Côte d’Ivoire with one game remaining. Gabon will face Burundi on Tuesday, while Côte d’Ivoire take on Kenya.

Aubameyang opened the scoring in Nairobi before Yankuba Minteh equalized for The Gambia, sprinting onto a long pass from goalkeeper Baboucarr Gaye and finishing neatly. The Gabon captain restored his side’s lead with a similar strike, capitalizing on a long ball from goalkeeper Loyce Marcus Mbaba.

Right before halftime, Adama Sidibeh levelled the match again with a solo effort, and moments after the restart, he headed The Gambia in front. Aubameyang responded with a header to complete his hat-trick, then added a stunning fourth goal—controlling a cross-field pass with precision before smashing home a powerful finish.
