Three Qatari Officials Killed in Traffic Accident Near Egypt’s Sharm el-Sheikh

Three senior Qatari officials have died in a car accident near the Egyptian Red Sea resort city of Sharm el-Sheikh, the Qatari Embassy in Cairo confirmed in a statement on Sunday.

According to the embassy, all three victims were employees of the Amiri Diwan, the administrative office that supports Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. The statement described the incident as a “tragic traffic accident” that occurred while the officials were carrying out their official duties.

The crash also left two others injured, both of whom are currently receiving medical treatment at a hospital in Sharm el-Sheikh.

“The Embassy of the State of Qatar in Cairo extends its deepest condolences and sincere sympathies to the families of the deceased,” the statement read. “We pray that God grants them mercy and paradise, and blesses the injured with a full and swift recovery.”

Sharm el-Sheikh has recently been a focal point of international diplomacy, serving as the venue for ceasefire negotiations between Israel and Hamas earlier in the week. The resort city is also set to host a global summit on Monday focused on finalizing the peace agreement.
